One Positive Control test and one No Template Control test should be included with each COVID-19 test run to provide assurance that PCR reactions were run successfully and without contamination. The controls assist in preventing false positive or false negative results. The Positive Control includes both the SARS-CoV-2 and endogenous control target sequences. The No Template Control is DNase/RNase-free distilled water.
If using the 16-well Open qPCR Dual Channel for COVID-19 testing, the Positive Control test should be included in well A1 and the No Template Control test should be included in well A2 of the machine. The remaining wells in Row A and all wells in Row B can be used for saliva sample tests.
